Irish Dance Instructors

Joanne Kavanagh, TCRG

Three time World Champion Joanne Kavanagh started dancing at the age of 3 in her native Derry with the McConomy School of Irish Dancing. She went on to win multiple Ulster, All Ireland, Al Scotland, British National, North American and World Championships.
In 2005 Joanne turned professional and was picked for the world tour of Michael Flatley’s “Celtic Tiger”.
Joanne now resides in Dublin and in 2013, along with co-teacher Niall they established Holly&Kavanagh. Together they have trained dancers to win every major Irish dance championship title and currently have former pupils touring with “Riverdance”, “Heartbeat of Home” and “Feet of Flames”

Dervla McGee, TCRG

Dervla started Irish dancing at the age of 7 and competed at the highest level for over 15 years with Scoil Rince Oirialla and later with Scoil Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh. Dervla won the North American Irish Dance Championships in Toronto, 2001 and placed fourth in the World Championships the following year.

At 17 Dervla joined ‘Riverdance’ and enjoyed a ten year association with the show during which time she toured extensively in countries worldwide. Dervla has also danced with ‘Ragús’ and has performed with the famous ‘Chieftains’ and at the Special Olympics.

Having graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick (where she worked with some of the finest musicians and dance tutors in the world), Dervla set up an Irish Dance Company and produced her own show “Reel Swing” which showcased her talent for choreography, combining as it did, Irish dance with music made famous by the Rat Pack.

As a fully qualified TCRG with CLRG, Dervla founded and became principal of The Mc Gee School of Irish Dance in Dundalk, Co Louth in 2011. The school has flourished and now includes pupils who have won Ulster, All Ireland, Irish National and World titles. Dervla is excited to join the Reels in the Rockies team for the 5th anniversary of camp.
