The Team

What makes a great camp is a great team! We're proud of our people.
From top-notch Irish dance instructors to highly trained professionals in outdoor activities, at Reels in the Rockies, you're in good hands.

Irish Dance Instructors:

John is a 29 year old Irish Dance professional from Cork, Ireland.
John started dancing at the age of 6, and throughout his competitive career won every major competition there was, including being crowned World Champion 6 times, 5 time All Ireland Champion, 10 Time Munster Champion, 5 time Great Britain Champion, 5 time All Scotland Champion & also North American Champion.
John joined Riverdance at the tender age of 18 in 2012, and to this day is still involved in show 10 years later. A highlight being performing in Radio City Music Hall, in New York City in 2020. He has been lucky enough to tour the world doing what he loves and certainly climbed the ranks within the show.
He was given the ‘Dance Captain’ role in 2018 for Riverdance’s North American tour & has taught at the Riverdance Summer School every year since it began, helping to shape the next generation of ‘Riverdancer’s’ & to pass on his passion he has for the show - being one of the only original instructors to still be involved.
John opened his own Irish Dance School - ‘The John Lonergan Academy of Irish Dancing’, in his hometown of Cork in 2019. In its short time of being open, John has had great success & has produced Munster Champions, & Top 5 placements at all Major Championships.
John is so excited to be instructing at Reels in the Rockies for the first time, and can’t wait to meet all attendees & get to work. He looks forward to having some fun with everyone & of course hard work being done along the way!

Claire Greaney

Claire is a native of Claregalway Co. Galway. She started dancing at the young age of 5 with the Hession school as a fun activity which soon turned into a strong passion and way of life. Throughout her competitive career, Claire was crowned World champion 6 times along with 5 All Ireland titles, 7 Great Britains, 3 British Nationals, 2 All Scotland, 2 Irish Nationals and 13 Connachts titles. Since 2007 Claire has been an active member of the renowned show, Trad on the Prom that takes place in Salthill, Co. Galway every summer from May to September and loves being able to welcome guests from all over the world to her hometown. Claire made the decision not to join any touring shows to be able to pursue a career but being able to teach with the Hession school and perform in Trad on the Prom has kept a strong connection to her first love while allowing her to enjoy 'normal life' as well. She qualified as a TCRG in 2018 and has been teaching with the Hession School ever since. She is very much looking forward to working with all this years campers at Reels in the Rockies while also getting to see and experience the beauty of the Canadian Rocky mountains.

With training in a variety of outdoor sports, activities, youth instruction and safety skills, the staff of the Goldeye Centre, specialize in providing quality programming to youth camps. Goldeye staff are vetted for both criminal backround and vulnerable sector checks, and aim to teach our campers a variety of skills outside of their "Irish dance" ones.

Cara Casey-O'Loughlin & Mark O'Loughlin

Cara and Mark live in Calgary with their daughters Molly and Audrey. Outside of running a successful Irish dance school in Calgary, the pair (who met while touring with Riverdance) love to spend time in nature with their family and 85 lb. dog, Winston. Cara and Mark are excited to host Western Canada's first Irish dance Adventure Camp providing dancers from around the world a venue to create friendships, grow their Irish dance skills and increase their confidence. After the huge success of

Reels in the Rockies in previous years, Mark and Cara are looking forward to many more successful years of camp!
